Community roll-call: Spring edition

One of our favourite things about Naked Paper is when we hear from you.

We design our bleach free toilet paper, kitchen rolls, and facial tissues with a lot of care. We think about how to make them simple, sustainable, and offer the best value toilet rolls, sheet for sheet. But the real test comes when they leave our warehouse and land in your home.

So when you write to us with your stories or send us photos, it always lifts our spirits. We like to say that change can begin in the most ordinary places, and our brilliant community proves this every day.

Here are some of the stories that brightened our inbox this spring.

Kindness, consultations, and tissues

We’re going to start with a story from just the other week, from Hannah, a GP who shared this anecdote on Linkedin.

“Today I received one of the most unusual gifts I’ve ever had from a patient; yet very thoughtful.A patient I know well, who felt she had used my whole box of tissues at a consultation previously, felt the need to replace mine with these bamboo tissues from Naked Paper – apparently they do the trick for the most ugly cries!I wonder how long they will last. Some days it feels like a day full of crying in the consultation room (and that’s just me!) but how privileged we are to be in a position where our patients feel comfortable and confident to open up about their deepest and most personal struggles ❤️”

It’s not often we get misty-eyed over reviews. This one, though, had us reaching for the… Well, the tissues actually.

It’s a lovely reminder for us that these soft brown sheets are there for the messy parts of life. Offering one is a simple gesture of kindness and care. Where would we be without the tissue-givers of this world?

So big, heartfelt thanks to Hannah’s patient for sharing Naked Paper, and to Hannah for being there when the tissues are needed.

We hope the new box lasts at least a week.

Some four-legged feedback on our rebrand

In March, we rebranded. Naked Sprout became Naked Paper. We were a little nervous, to put it mildly, to see what everyone thought.

And for a team of animal-lovers, “everyone” naturally includes pets. That’s why this email from Anna made our day:

“Just thought I'd let you know we love the new boxes too. Here's a pic of my dog having great fun finding the treats I hid in it!”

Not the use we had in mind when we designed the new boxes for our soft toilet paper, but a strong contender for best alternative purpose. Between all the admin and logistics needed for the rebrand, we could have done with a nice relaxing box to stick our own heads in by the end of March.

The contents of our boxes remains the same. Naked Paper rolls and sheets are ready to be popped in loos, placed on holders, and in the case of our customer Elaine, mercilessly shredded. She sent in this email:

"Tora is a rescued Akita who we’ve had for 16 months, she has recently found out where I keep the toilet rolls. When the pantry door isn’t shut properly she goes in, picks one and shreds it, hence today’s order.”

What is it about Naked Paper that Tora finds so irresistible? Perhaps it’s the bleach-free brown colour that swings it for her, or maybe the pine-resin adhesive lends a subtle evergreen taste. We’ve never tried chewing our rolls ourselves, so Tora’s the expert here.

Clearly a dog of discerning taste either way.

Eco toilet paper: the gift that keeps on giving

We often get emails from people who want to share Naked Paper. Sometimes they’d like a discount code for a friend, or in the cases of our business clients, a leaflet they can use to let customers know about the funny brown toilet rolls in their loos.

(If we can help you with either of those things, please get in touch)

But our customer CR in Essex took the concept of sharing the word, and ran with it.

“Don’t laugh; I’ve just ordered an extra box of your loo paper as a birthday present for a friend! Must be the weirdest birthday present I’ve ever given anyone!!! 😂🤣”

CR, if you’re reading this, thank you and please let us know how the gift was received! We think it’s genius, honestly. It’s practical, it’s planet friendly, and it’s a guaranteed conversation starter.

Plus, it’s one gift you can be sure they’ll actually use.

While we’re thinking about it, Father's day is just around the corner, how about some bamboo toilet rolls? Or kitchen rolls, even?... It’s got to be better than a mug in the shape of a golf bag.

A right royal roll

We’ll finish with a crowning achievement. In May, we shared some big news. We were awarded the 2025 King’s Award for Enterprise in Sustainable Development.

To say we were floored is putting it mildly. This is the most prestigious business award in the UK. It means so much to our team that our work to build a more sustainable business has received this recognition from His Highness, and that we’ll be able to fly the King’s Award emblem on our boxes and website.

It also meant a lot to be able to bring this news to our community. We announced the award on the 6th of May with an email to our customers, and we received a flood of kind messages in return. It was an absolute deluge of cheers, claps, and heart emojis; from people who’ve been with us since the beginning, and from people who’d just bought their very first box.

Each and every message was gratefully received. We’ll be celebrating with the other winners at Windsor Castle this summer, and we’ll be sure to share photos when we do.

Here’s to the season ahead

That’s our round up of Spring 2025. Dogs, doctors, birthdays, and a royal award. It’s been a season of growth, and with our new name and fresh look we feel like we’re just getting started.

Huge thanks to everyone who’s written to us, tagged us, or sent a photo. We’re proud to be part of your lives, even in a very small way. And if you’ve got a tale to tell or a snap to share, please do get in touch. Your support is the sustainable energy that keeps us going. That and all the solar panels, of course.

We’ll be back in a few months with the stories of our summer. Until then, stay cool, stay naked (maybe not literally), and thanks for being part of the fold.
