2025 in toilet paper (and tissues, and kitchen roll...)

With bleach free toilet paper, kitchen rolls, and tissues sold in packs to suit the busiest households, we’re all about stocking up.

And as 2025 draws to a close, it’s the perfect time to take stock as well; to pause a moment and reflect on a very full year.

We’ve changed our name, gone to Windsor Castle, headed into the wild with Chris Packham and taken a factory tour. And we found time to squeeze in a couple of new products while we were at it. It’s been a remarkable year of growth and change, but all of it has been underpinned by the same principles we started with.

Everyday products, made with less damage to the environment.

Here’s our round-up of the year.

New look, still Naked

Back in March, we changed our name. Naked Sprout became Naked Paper.

It was time for a change. When we launched in 2020, Naked Sprout felt right. We were a small business finding its feet, and the name reflected the sense of freshness and possibility we wanted to embody, as well as the bamboo we used for our first products.

Five years on our business had matured and our range had grown. Recycled products were firmly part of the picture, and we weren’t just a sprout any more.

So we chose a name that says where we are now; Naked Paper. A simple nod to simple products that remain unchanged in the fundamentals: Bleach-free, plastic-free, and made with the details laid bare.

We love the new name, and we’re very much looking forward to a Christmas without a thousand sprout jokes.

We kept using our old boxes until they ran out, to make sure we were rebranding without waste. But by May our new boxes were rolling out across the country, and we had something very exciting to add to them…

A right royal roll

In May we were thrilled to learn that we’d won a King’s Award for Enterprise in Sustainable Development. Out of thousands of UK businesses considered, only 27 received the award in 2025. Somehow, brown toilet paper made the cut.

The King’s Awards for Enterprise are the highest official recognition for business excellence in the UK. There are a few different categories, and for us, the Sustainable Development award is the one that matters most. It’s given to companies that can show sustainability is built into their daily operations in a way that goes far beyond soundbites and marketing.

This is how we’ve always wanted to conduct business, and to have our efforts recognised  was a massive boost for our team. There was also the slightly surreal detail that we’d be heading to Windsor Castle for a reception with His Majesty. Here’s Tom on the lawn outside the palace.

More than the ceremony, or the emblem we proudly added to our new boxes, the award was more confirmation that doing things thoughtfully and transparently matters. Even when the product itself is about as everyday as it gets.

In fact, when it comes to everyday products we’d say thoughtfulness and transparency matters more. And we’re not the only ones.

Heading into the wild with Chris Packham

In July, we teamed up with Chris Packham for a series of short films celebrating nature, bleach-free toilet paper, and the way that small choices can add up to real change.

Chris has spent decades helping people see the natural world in all its beauty and detail. We share with him a firm belief that we can show up for nature every day, in the way we live and in the things we buy.

As Chris put it, "What you choose to spend your money on is a powerful way to drive positive change." We’re on the same page.

(we also got to see his collection of animal droppings, which made our summer)

Off to sunny Spain

September is normally the end of the summer, but we managed to stretch the sunshine out a little longer as most of the Naked Paper team packed their bags and headed to northern Spain to visit the factory where all our toilet paper, kitchen roll, and tissues are made.

For many of us it was the first time seeing the place behind the emails, photos, and video calls. We’re a remote team scattered across the UK, so the trip also doubled as a rare chance to swap Slack messages for hugs at the Barcelona arrivals hall.

Visiting LC Paper and getting to meet the manager Pau Vila and his team on the Spanish side was an incredible experience. The factory is busy, it is loud, and it is brimming with the history, experience, and innovations that makes Naked Paper so special.

We got to see the river where we borrow our water, the forest floors where we collect fallen bark and leaves for our furnaces, and the solar panels that power the computers. By the end of the trip we were covered in tissue dust and full of a new appreciation for the work that goes into every bleach-free sheet.

Welcoming some new recycled essentials

Finally, we get to the end of the year and our launch of recycled kitchen rolls and recycled tissues.

Recycled toilet rolls have been part of the Naked Paper line-up since 2023 and they’ve been a big hit with our customers, so this felt like a natural next step.

Like the toilet rolls, they’re made from recycled cardboard boxes and kraft paper collected from the area around our factory. And like all of our products there’s no bleach, no harsh chemicals, and no fossil fuels used to dry them.

Whether they’re mopping up spills, soothing a sneeze, or just sitting quietly on your coffee table, our new products are ready to recycle their way into your home and heart.

Okay, maybe just your home.

Thank you, and roll on 2026

That was our 2025.

A real cracker of a year for us, and none of it happens without you. Your feedback, your curiosity and your willingness to try something a bit different, even when it’s as simple as changing your toilet roll.

Thank you for a fantastic year.
